Ancient Wisdom From the Second Most Translated Book in the World

One of the things that had a huge impact in my life is this short and magical book called The Tao Te Ching, translated by some as The Book of Virtue.

I discovered the Tao Te Ching years ago and I am in love with it ever since.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Tao Te Ching, this is the second most translated book in the world after the Bible and it was written more than 2500 years ago by this wise Chinese man called Lao Tzu.

It is an amazing and incredibly beautiful book that teaches us how to live our lives in a very pure and beautiful way, and even though it uses really simple words, the impact it can have on you and your life is beyond words. It is the simple things that are so difficult for us to understand and do.

Every time I read this magical book, I feel like I’m falling even more in love with it. It is really amazing to see how, every time i read it, it helps me understand more and more about who I am, it helps me discover more about my life and the world around me.

I read it at least once or twice a month because it’s really short and it takes me like 10 minutes maximum to finish it.

Anyway, I wanted to share these thoughts of mine with you and in the closing I would love for you to read the verse 24 of the Tao Te Ching, one of my favorite verses from the book:

He who stands on tiptoe doesn’t stand form.

He who rushes ahead doesn’t go far.

He who tries to shine dims his own light.

He who defines himself can’t know who he really is.

He who has power over others can’t empower himself.

He who clings to his work will create nothing that endures.

If you want to accord with the Tao, just do your job, then let go. ~Lao Tzu
