New Orleans would not be who she is without her small business community. From NOLA Brewing and Ur Way Yogurt & Coffee Bar to Magnolia Makeup and The Munch Factory, our “family” of entrepreneurs just continues to grow and we’re proud to be encouragers and supporters of them!

IntheNOLA is also a part of that family of New Orleans entrepreneurs and we are committed to showcasing and promoting the positive side of New Orleans. Established in May 2008, IntheNOLA has built an incredible network of the people who make this city so great. At IntheNOLA, we are committed to supporting New Orleans by promoting positivity, showcasing our locals, and giving back to our community.

And IntheNOLA needs your help by voting for us in the Mission: Small Business TODAY! Put together by Chase and LivingSocial, Mission: Small Business will be handing out between four and twelve $250,000 grants to small business owners “to increase awareness of the important role small businesses play in local communities and to help small businesses grow.”

In order to be considered for one of the $250,000 grants, each small business must have a minimum of 250 votes. Businesses that get the 250 votes will then be judged by a panel of business experts to make the final decision.

Here's how to vote for IntheNOLA:

1.) Go www.missionsmallbusiness.com.
2.) Click Log In & Support.
3.) Enter IntheNOLA in the Business Name.
4.) Click Search.
5.) Click VOTE!

It’s that easy, New Orleans!

Natives and non-natives, 7th warders and Uptowners, private, parochial, and public schoolers, filé and okra gumbo eaters, we invite you to join on us this wild ride called IntheNOLA.

VOTE for IntheNOLA! And remember that you can vote for as many small businesses as you like!

This Saturday was a beer drinker’s day made in heaven! The sun was shining, Champions Square was full of lively festivalgoers, and there was far more beer than you could possibly sample at the New Orleans International Beer Festival.

No really, we did the math. At two ounces a taste and more than 150 beers, there were potentially 300 ounces of beer to sample. Divide that by 16 ounces (the equivalent of one pound of beer) and it would require gaining nearly 20 pounds in beer to get a taste of them all! Nonetheless, InthekNOwla put forth a great effort and after carefully trying nearly every beer, here’s a list of some of our favorites:

Down by the Bayou, in New Orleans,
Where the fans scream “WHO DAT” there was a Black n Gold Team,
They weren’t always the best but they made their city proud,
And all of their fans, cheered together out loud. Excerpt from The Little WHO DAT, Who Didn't By Alex McConduit

All of our InthekNOwlians know what team is referenced in the quote to the left. And although they’ve had a little negative press over the last few weeks, TRUE Saints fan will always bleed Black and Gold no matter what! But we digress…

Like many of the Local Artist Spotlights on InthekNOwla, Alexander (aka Alex) McConduit embodies the kNOwla Trinity™ fully: Born, raised, and still here. A product of St. Leo the Great Elementary, Marian Central Catholic Middle School, St. Augustine High School, Loyola University, and a little bit of the University of New Orleans, Mr. McConduit IS New Orleans.
