Springtime IntheNOLA with Dear World founder Robert Fogarty

Written by  IntheNOLA.com
Last week, WDSU news anchor Camille Whitworth and WWLTV traffic reporter Tamica Lee gave us the low down on their favorite springtime NOLA things!

Now that it seems like we may be done with the rain for at least 10 minutes today, Robert Fogarty, founder of Dear World, gives us the scoop on his faves!
Robert knows his New Orleans. A few years ago, he asked the residents of New Orleans to “write a love note to their City,” which transformed into the wildly successful Dear New Orleans, where participants were photographed with their love note written on their arms, hands, face, fingers, etc. With Dear World, Robert has expanded the idea of Dear New Orleans and now records everyone’s stories regardless of religion, race, or language.

Springtime IntheNOLA with Dear World founder Robert Fogarty | IntheNOLA.comSo what’s his story? What is it about spring IntheNOLA that makes him smile? Simple answer: “The sunsets,” he said. “And, springtime sells us that extra hour of happiness and we all buy it.”

Robert’s favorite festival is a toss up between French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest. “I like Jazz Fest because it brings old and new friends back to the city like clock work. This will be my 10th year in a row at a Jazz Fest. At the same time, I also like French Quarter Fest because it’s free. Either way, I’d love to know the economics of both and I hope the artists are paid fairly for each.”

If you’re at a festival and you see Maggie Koerner’s name on the schedule, Robert highly suggests that you check her out. “Maggie Koerner is the truth. Google her.”

To round things out, Robert always gets a crawfish sack at Jazz Fest and a strawberry snowball (place is not important…how the long the line is!).
