Drew Brees inches closer to breaking Johnny Unitas' TD record despite New Orleans Saints' loss vs. Chiefs

Written by  Larry Holder
Drew Brees' continued assault on the NFL record books probably didn't resonate too loudly with the quarterback during the New Orleans Saints' 27-24 loss to Kansas City on Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

He extended his consecutive game streak with a touchdown pass to 46 with his first-quarter 9-yard TD pass to Lance Moore. Brees sits only one behind Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas to tie the all-time record of 47 straight games.
Brees can tie the record next Sunday in Green Bay and break the record in two weeks at home against the San Diego Chargers, the team that gave up on Brees after the 2005 season electing to make Philip Rivers the starting quarterback.

The Saints quarterback also extended his streak of games with 20 or more completions to 39 as he continued to extend the NFL record he already held. Brees moved past Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton for eighth place on the all-time completions list as Brees ended Sunday with 3,688 career completions.
