The Spears Group and Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.) have partnered to present the fifth annual Millennial Awards and inaugural Emerge Summit, a new annual emerging leadership conference, on Thurs., July 13 – Sat., July 15, 2017.  
 
The #MillennialsMeet launch event will kick off the weekend festivities on the evening of July 13. The Emerge Summit will take place Thurs., July 13 and Fri., July 14 at the Ace Hotel (600 Carondelet St.) and the fifth annual Millennial Awards will take place on Sat., July 15 at the Civic Theatre (510 O'Keefe Ave.).
The Emerge Summit will feature an impressive line-up of speakers from across the U.S. including Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc.; Kirk Coco, CEO of Nola Brewing Company; Crystal McDonald, Founder and CEO of Acrew; and Amanda Shaw, nationally-acclaimed fiddle player and singer. The Summit will provide hundreds of up-and-coming young professionals with a series of educational and supportive platforms that drive personal and career development. Speakers will touch on a variety of topics including “Confidence, Self-Awareness & Personal Branding,” “So, You Want to Be Your Own Boss?” and “A Millennial World.”
 
The Millennials, conceived and produced by the Spears Group since 2013, is a one-of-a-kind event that honors New Orleans’ millennials who are making a difference in the community and excelling in their respective fields. The celebration will begin at 6:00 pm on Sat., July 15, 2017 at the Civic Theatre.
 
The awards ceremony will honor millennials in 19 diverse categories. Notable finalists this year include: Edgar Chase, IV, Chef/Owner at Dook’s Place; PJ Morton, R&B singer/songwriter and founder at Morton Records; Ethan Ashley, Director of Community Engagement at Urban League Greater New Orleans; and Hartley Wasser, Director of Editorial and Content Marketing at New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation among others. The Millennial Awards will also include its Restaurant Competition at 6:00pm with New Orleans’ top restaurants creating a ‘millennial-inspired dish’ for guests to sample and vote on.
 
The awards ceremony will be hosted by WWL-TV Anchor Thanh Truoung and Urban League of Louisiana President & CEO Erika McConduit at 7:00pm with the after party commencing at the conclusion of the awards until 10:00pm, and feature a live performance by New Orleans’ own DJ Soul Sister, the award-winning “queen of rare groove.”
 
Tickets are $30 each for the Emerge Summit and Millennial Awards or $50 ($25 each) when purchased together.
