NOMA celebrates 12th annual ‘LOVE in the Garden’ fundraiser in City Park’s Sculpture Garden, Sept. 25

Written by  IntheNOLA.com
If you haven’t realized that gardens and garden parties are where the love, laughs, and good times are with good food and great people, then maybe the New Orleans Museum of Art’s (NOMA) annual fundraiser LOVE in the Garden inside the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden in New Orleans City Park will convince you.
Now, we know you’ve been to City Park a million and one times and to NOMA a few hundred times, but the Sculpture Garden seems to be a hidden treasure for many New Orleanians. Located next to NOMA, the Sculpture Garden is “home to over sixty sculptures from artists from all over the world and set in a stunning environment of meandering footpaths.” From the moment you walk into the garden, you are transported into another world…a world of huge oak trees, bridges and water, and of course sculptures galore. THIS is the setting for the 12th annual LOVE in the Garden. Food, music, and a little love under the oaks, stars, and sculptures.

LOVE in the Garden is a garden party right here in the Sculpture Garden," said NOMA. "This year, we have amazing entertainment with Helen Gillet and Mojeaux as well as fantastic cuisine from some of New Orleans’ best restaurants, including Cafe Degas, Delachaise, Ruby Slipper Cafe, and MANY, many more!” In addition to the regular party, be sure to check out the late-night party featuring DJ Jubilee and some of New Orleans' favorite food trucks, including Diva Dawg, Frencheeze, and others.

This year's event will also include the LOVE Cocktail Challenge. "LOVE in the Garden has celebrated numerous visual and culinary artists in New Orleans over the last few years. This year, we’ll toast the artistry of craft cocktails and their makers too! The LOVE Cocktail Challenge will feature celebrated craft bartenders in pursuit of the most creative interpretations of LOVE!" Sip on creations by Abigail Diedre Gullo of Compere Lapin, Paul Gustings of Broussard's, Chris Hannah of French 75, Chris McMillian of Kingfish, T. Cole Newton of Twelve Mile Limit, Kimberly Patton-Bragg of Three Muses, Daniel Victory of Victory, and Steve Yamada of Latitude 29.

But Love in the Garden is not only about the eating, dancing, and drinking. “Each year, we honor five New Orleans artists as well. This year, we are honoring local artists Dawn DeDeaux, Tina Freeman, Susan Gisleson, Delaney Martin, Chandra McCormick, and Keith Calhoun. We celebrate and thank them for being a part of our art community and attendees are able to meet them.”

This year’s LOVE in the Garden promises to be a fantastic event in a wonderful setting. Come show your love at LOVE in the Garden!
