Local organization,
Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) of Greater New Orleans, and Loyola University Law School host their annual 5k/1 mile fun run,
Race Judicata, this Saturday, March 9 at Audubon Park.
“
Race Judicata, the name of the race, is a play on the legal term, ‘res judicata,’ said Kelley Allenspach, Development Director for BHGH. “Loyola Law School has been a presenting partner of the race since the inception of this event and the race continues to be supported by the local legal community, bringing together over thirty local firms for a day of friendly competitive racing.”
New Orleanians of all ages are invited to participate in
Race Judicata for a morning of family friendly racing, food, beverages, music, and more. “The family friendly atmosphere of this event has made
Race Judicata one of Boys Hope Girls Hope's biggest events. Participants range from serious runners to those trying their first 5K, from four-legged friends to family members of all ages walking together. This all-inclusive atmosphere makes it an ideal event for everyone. And being a true New Orleanian organization, we make it a point to provide delicious food from local restaurants such as
Acme Oyster House,
Boo Koo BBQ, and
Dat Dog, beverages from Crescent Crown Distributing and Coca Cola, and some healthier options from Whole Foods and Jamba
Juice.”
Race Judicata will also feature Luther Gray from the
Ashe Cultural Arts Center performing with his drum circle as well as an Awards Party following the race with The Habitual Line Steppers, a band of legal professionals, kicking it off. “We also have new participation awards this year, including the ‘Best Team Name’ award, the ‘This Wasn't My Idea’ award for the best dressed team, the ‘Fancy Feet’ award for the best dressed individual, and the ‘Best Dressed Pet’ for our four legged friends. All are welcome to participate in these new awards, where the winners will be decided by Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars.”
Kelley concluded, “As a 100% privately funded organization, community events like
Race Judicata are critical to maintaining the Boys Hope Girls Hope program, which provides motivated children from Greater New Orleans with a stable home environment, positive parenting, and academic opportunities.”
